Workaround
Laatst wilde ik de galerij-functie van WordPress.com gebruiken. Daarmee laat je meerdere afbeeldingen in één overzicht zien, waar je vervolgens doorheen kunt bladeren. Leuk en handig. Eén afbeelding wilde ik uitsluiten van de galerij. Die moest apart bovenaan staan. Hoe ik dat voor elkaar kon krijgen, wees zich niet meteen vanzelf.
Zoeken in binnen- en buitenlandse internetfora brengt dan meestal uitkomst, maar daar trof ik zóveel vertwijfelde bloggers met dezelfde vraag – en net zoveel workarounds – dat het er niet eenvoudiger op werd. Dus zocht en vond ik m’n eigen manier. Hierbij gepost, in de hoop dat andere bloggers er wat aan hebben.
Everyone with a blog hosted on WordPress.com, may sometimes want to use the gallery option. It shows multiple images in one overview. Very nice-looking. But what, if you want to exclude one or more images, like I wanted to recently? I didn’t quite see how that could be done. Often the message boards on the Internet will provide the answer, but this time I stumbled on as many bloggers with the same question, as workarounds. Though none of the latter as easy peasy as I wanted to. So I tried and found my own – pretty straightforward – workaround, posted here. Maybe it can be of use to you and other bloggers.
Workaround
Maak een nieuw bericht aan dat je als ‘concept’ opslaat. Noem het bijvoorbeeld ‘fake-bericht’, zodat je het kunt herkennen als een bericht dat niet wordt gepubliceerd. Upload daarin de afbeelding(en) die je niet in het galerij-overzicht wilt opnemen. Sla opnieuw op als ‘concept’. Ga nu terug naar het galerij-bericht en upload de uit te sluiten foto(‘s) vanuit de media-bibliotheek, waarin ze nu te vinden zijn. Als het goed is, heb je nu geen enkele moeite om ze als aparte foto te plaatsen. En natuurlijk kun je dit fake-bericht elke keer opnieuw gebruiken wanneer je een foto wilt uitsluiten. Dit werkt voor zowel berichten als pagina’s. Een geslaagd voorbeeld vind je HIER.
Create a new post and save it in concept-mode. Name it ‘fake-post’ for instance. Just so you know it’s not to be published. Now upload the images you want to exclude, and again save your fake-post in concept-mode. Go back to your gallery-post and now you upload the images you want to exclude by using the media library. This time you shouldn’t have any problems keeping them apart from the images in the gallery. And of course you can use the fake-post any time in the future should you want to exclude images again.
